The Initiative was started by the efforts of Mike Henderson who incorporated the help of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and others, among the others he found was a co-founder of the very successful Ohio City Bicycle Co-Op in Cleveland Ohio. Mike’s Passion for cycling took him to Tucson AZ. As the Coach of the H.I.T. (the High Intensity Training arm of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in training) team. His very talented team was there to race in the El Tour de Tucson where at the expo he was inspired by a booth hosted by the Tucson Bike Kitchen. This finding spurred another passion in Mike, his community, and he began taking steps to see an initiative like this come to life in San Diego.
